College students have some pretty incredible aspirations, but what we didn’t know we were ready for is an entirely student run production about Isaac Newton.
Cal Poly senior Nathan Norris and his co-director, junior Lara Elliott, set out earlier this quarter to create an entirely student organized production for the on-campus club, Students Stage. Student’s Stage is affiliated with the Cal Poly Theater Department, and is known for creating some amazing productions, including it’s annual spring One Act Festival.Â
The play is about famous scientist Isaac Newton, so with its sciencey focus combined with theatric flare, the show is perfect for students of all majors.Â
About the play:
“To understand light and optics better, young Isaac Newton inserted a long needle ‘between my eye and the bone, as near to the backside of my eye as I could’. Why take such a risk? Lucas Hnath reimagines the contentious, plague-ravaged world Newton inhabited in Isaac’s Eye, exploring the dreams and longings that drove the rural farm boy to become one of the greatest thinking in modern science.”
Show dates are March 10, 11 and 12th at 8:00 pm in Davidson Music Building blackbox room 212.Â
Doors open at 7:30 and tickets are $5.Â
