The transition from summer to fall leaves us switching out our pink and coral glosses for burgundy and nude lipsticks, but there’s no reason for lip glosses to go unused during the fall and winter months. A great way to wear lip gloss in the fall and winter is to layer it over your favorite fall lipstick. Using lip gloss as a lip topper can tie together an everyday look or amp up your look for a night out.

This summer, Almay released the Goddess Glosses. According to the Almay website, the Goddess Glosses are sheer, iridescent and easy to wear glosses, and are available in eight shades. All of Almay’s products are hypoallergenic and fragrance free. They can be found at most drug stores and on their website for $9.99 and contain 0.10 ounces of product. We tried out the Goddess Glosses, and decided to share our thoughts with you.

True to their website, the Goddess Glosses are sheer in color, but not in sparkle. The doe foot applicator allows for easy and even application on the lips. Once on, the lip gloss is smooth and moisturizing without feeling sticky.

Because this gloss is sheer, we thought it would be perfect as a lip topper over your favorite lipsticks. Of course, this lip gloss can be worn alone, but for fall this gloss is perfect as a lip topper. One of our favorite shades in the collection is Cosmic, which is a light, pinky nude shade with gold glitter.

Cosmic is the perfect shade to layer over a red lipstick for a holiday look. To achieve this look, we recommend layering Cosmic over the Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) liquid lipstick in shade American Doll. ABH also has a line of lip glosses, but the ABH lip glosses are more opaque than the Almay lip glosses. Also, the Almay lip gloss has larger pieces of glitter and a thicker consistency than the ABH lip glosses.

These two pictures show (from top to bottom) Cosmic Goddess Gloss, ABH lip gloss in shade Parfait, ABH liquid lipstick shade American Doll and ABH liquid lipstick in shade American Doll with Cosmic layered on top. The left picture is with normal lighting and shows the more golden shades in Cosmic, while the picture on the left is taken with flash to show the pieces of glitter and how using Cosmic as a lip topper really amps up the liquid lipstick.

We love both the ABH and Almay lip glosses, but for the fall we think the Almay Goddess Glosses are the perfect lip topper to spice up you fall lipsticks. Overall, the Almay Goddess Glosses are very sparkly and we hope you will try it out over some of your favorite fall lipsticks.
