Dotun Olubeko was the recent finalist and “winner” of Season 20 of The Bachelorette, swooping bachelorette Charity Lawson off her feet. However, it’s less commonly known that Dotun is actually a former Wildcat and graduated from Chico State in 2018. Who knew we would ever see a collaboration between Chico, California and Bachelor Nation!
Dotun Olubeko was not only a student here at Chico pursuing his degree in Nutrition Science, but also an athlete on the Track & Field team. Now he owns DPT Fitness, which offers clients assistance in nutrition and fitness programs.
His main event in which he competed was the 110m hurdles, which probably explains how he was so good at jumping ahead of the other 25 bachelors to steal the heart of the gorgeous Bachelorette, Charity Lawson.
His hometown date took place just a few hours away in Fresno, California. In one of the most wholesome parts of the season, Dotun’s parents surprised him and Charity with a home-cooked meal prepared by his grandmother.
Dotun absolutely stole the show, showcasing his humble background and sentimental side, including a surprise ride to a drive-in movie and a compilation of home-videos. It’s safe to say by that point, he had all of Bachelor Nation’s hearts throbbing. The hometown date solidified the unwavering and strong connection between the two that was obvious throughout the season. My only complaint? His hometown date didn’t include a trip to visit his Alma Mater at Chico State.
Watching The Bachelorette, we can see why Dotun was a good fit at Chico State. He’s always up for an adventure, even going as far as taking the plunge on a 1-on-1 date with Charity, bungee jumping off a bridge. He also expressed his ever growing love for his air fryer, which pretty much any college student can relate to.
We are proud to claim Dotun as a member of our Wildcat family and look forward to following the blossoming connection between him and Charity!
