How To Keep Up With Your New Year’s Resolutions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal State Chico chapter.

Every year we get a restart. It’s a new year to be a new version of yourself. Whether it’s simply staying more organized, becoming a gym fanatic, or even lessening your screen time, we make these goals for a reason. To stick to them. With reality catching up to us, we may lose track of the hope we once had in ourselves to become better in a certain category. With that being said, here are a few ways that you can stay on top of your resolutions while going about your everyday life.

Keeping a Calendar

This seems so simple in hindsight, but sometimes it can get extremely overwhelming as events and appointments add up, jam-packing your schedule and causing you stress. Within your calendar, block out some time each day or each week, depending on your resolution to complete it, to remind yourself of your tasks along with taking time for yourself. Block out an hour, or even just thirty minutes of gym time. Want to draw more? Block out time for yourself every day, marking it in your calendar as a constant reminder that you have a task to complete.

Leaving Notes

Writing on sticky notes and placing them around your home is a great way to remind yourself of what needs to be done. Do you look in the mirror every day? Put a sticky note on your mirror to remind you of your New Year’s resolution. Place them in every place where you visit in your home every day. Other places to stick them can be your car, phone case, or office space!

Having a Partner

If you have trouble motivating yourself to complete your resolution, find a partner, whether it’s a friend, family member, or significant other, to hold you accountable and make sure you’re on top of your goals. Having a partner assist you is great, especially when they share the same goal. Maybe find a friend who wants to go to the gym more, make that resolution with them, and have them hold you accountable as you do for them. This way, you have a partner to complete your goals with and a constant reminder from someone who cares about you.

New Year’s resolutions, big or small, can have a great impact on your life and make you feel more confident in your body. Keeping up with your goals is a great habit to get into and hopefully, these three insights can aid you in achieving your new goals this year.
