On Wednesday, November 4 Balmain for H&M was launched online and in selected locations, causing near stampedes and sparking a frenzy on social media. As predicted the line sold out within minutes. Even though most prices were reasonable, some items were still a pricey and a bit out of reach for some of us.
When I found out about the line, I was determined to try to get my hands on one of the pieces. I daydreamed about the white wool jacket with satin lapels and about wearing the beautifully detailed beaded velvet dress. I checked on a daily basis on prices and times. I called my nearest H&M to see if they were going to carry the line. I considered asking to be late to work so I can wait in line. I also created an H&M account so that the day I could be ready to go and attempt to buy something online.
As the days got nearer and nearer I contemplated whether it was personally worth it attempt to buy something. I used to my best judgment and considered it an adult decision. After paying my bills, buying one clothing item would have swept my monthly spending budget. Also with Christmas around the corner, I decided to save my money instead for Christmas gifts for my family.
I mistakenly thought the line launched at 9am, but it actually launched at 8a.m, which was probably a good thing because otherwise temptation would have probably taken over me. Out of curiosity, I checked eBay and had to snap out of it and remind myself that I need Christmas money.
The pieces are a beautiful eye catch. It’s no wonder the line sold out in minutes. All we can do at this point is turn to eBay or wait for the next designer collaboration. For now, here are 10 of the best pieces of the line.
