The global sensation K-pop group BTS announced their hiatus in June 2022 and has since been exploring their solo music careers. Any fan with a history with One Direction knows the dread of hearing their favorite artist is going on hiatus, but BTS has given us little to worry about.
Since announcing their break, content has been rolling out to keep fans eager about their return, whether it be pre-recorded Run BTS episodes or hour-long WeVerse lives (courtesy of BTS’s youngest member Jungkook).
All seven members have released solo music since going on their break, with the latest being V‘s announcement of his debut album. Here are some of the things we know about it before its official release on September 8th, 2023.
BTS’s label, BigHit Music, unveiled the album announcement on their social media on August 7th, 2023, and began promoting it throughout the month before its release. They revealed to fans the title of the album, which is a cheeky play on V’s stage name: Layo(v)er, along with the tracklist which consists of six songs, including one bonus track:
- Rainy Days
- Blue
- Love Me Again
- Slow Dancing
- For Us
- Slow Dancing (piano version)
Three days after the announcement of Layover, the music video for the third track, ‘Love Me Again,’ was released, featuring a blond-haired V singing soulfully into a mic on the screen of an old television. The ‘Rainy Days‘ music video subsequently came out the next day, August 11th.
These two pre-releases tell you everything you need to know about what sound will be on V’s debut album: a mixture of R&B and 70s soul, an homage to V’s signature explorative style.
Layover has been announced to be released on September 8th, 2023, and is currently available for pre-order
