Classes, homework, work, social life AND stay active. Managing everything all at once and trying to exercise on top of that is difficult. Luckily, not only does Carroll offer lots of different ways to stay active, but there are also options for off campus too!Â
- On-campus gyms
-
Here at Carroll there is not one, but TWO gyms packed full of workout equipment. The RecSports Fitness Center and Carroll’s YMCA are both located down by the suites on Grand Ave, each offering a variety of workout equipment. In addition, the YMCA offers a room where you can set up videos through the computer to lead you through different classes. Both are great ways to make sure you have a place to let out all your stress, whether it’s running on the treadmill or lifting weights.
- Group Fitness ClassesÂ
-
Zumba, Yoga and BodyCombat classes are all free! Did someone say free? Sign me up! These classes are a great way to stay active if you need a little more motivation than just saying you will go to the gym. All held in the dance studio in Ganfield Gymnasium, they are well-attended and loved by students. So what are you waiting for, sign up for those free classes!Â
- Intramural SportsÂ
-
A great way to keep up with a sport you love is by making a team and signing up for intramurals. Basketball, flag football, dodgeball, oh my! Check out the RecSports page for all the details. Grab a group of friends and have some fun!Â
- Off CampusÂ
-
So maybe you don’t like any of the options Carroll offers. No worries, there is lots to do around campus. Located right in downtown Waukesha, walking distance from campus, is Reaching Treetops Yoga. Offering a variety of yoga classes and aerial yoga, this place is the perfect way to keep active. Or maybe you want a faster-paced work out. Well, located about 15 minutes from campus is a Cyclebar. Although these options aren’t free like Carroll’s programs, they are still great ways to make sure you set aside some time for self-care.
Finding time between all of your responsibilities at school can be discouraging when you’re trying to keep active, but it is the perfect break from everything. So next time you find yourself stressing out, schedule a fitness class or a trip to the gym, and get out there and move!Â
