If you’ve been paying any attention to social media in the last two months, there’s hardly a chance you haven’t heard or read about this TV show at least once. The show I’m referring to is the latest HBO teen drama Euphoria.
By now, you’ve probably got tired of seeing people talking about it so much. But why is this show such a massive hit – aside from the fact that Zendaya is in it? Well, there are a few reasons why. Still not sure whether or not you should give it a go? Here are five reasons why you MUST watch Euphoria.
- Representativity and a very diverse cast
-
Unlike most teen drama TV shows, Euphoria has a very diverse cast and that’s why so many people have been drawn into watching it. Acting professionally for the first time, we get to see Hunter Schafer brilliance on screen. She’s a trans girl and so is her character, Jules. There’s also Barbie Ferreira, a plus-size model and actress, whose mother is Brazilian, playing Cat, a girl who once struggled so much with self-acceptance and body image but has now come to terms with her sense of self worth and has embraced her beauty and confidence!
- The 10/10 Soundtrack
-
What is a show without a good soundtrack to go with it? Whatever it is, it certainly doesn’t apply to Euphoria. Filled with BeyoncĂ©, Billie Eilish, Lizzo and all that good stuff, you can listen to the whole thing on Spotify!Â
- The Cinematography
-
Full of thrilling shots throughout its 8 episodes, Euphoria definitely gets points for the photography. The people responsible for it are Marcell Rév, Drew Daniels and Adam Newport-Berra.
- The Stunning Makeup
-
Adding to the atmosphere of the show, the makeup is as just as essential as the soundtrack and the cinematography. The artist behind it is Doniella Davy, to whom we own the beautiful, artsy and very-much-filled-with-glitter looks we now get to copy. Speaking of which, tons of Euphoria-inspired makeup tutorials have already been uploaded to Youtube!
- How crudely and non-glamourized the characters’ struggles are presented
-
Sexuality, teenage pregnancy, drug addiction and violence are all subjects discussed in the show’s first season and none of them are in any way glamourized or romanticized. Euphoria presents the public with a very raw and honest portrayal of struggles that real life people actually go through. That’s also the reason why the show is so relatable to so many of us, in a way or another.
Hopefully these 5 reasons were enough to convince you to watch this great show! Pinky promise you it won’t be a regretful experience!
