Every potterhead has already imagined themselves going to Hogwarts, being selected for one of the four houses – Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw – and surviving every adventure that happens in the books. There are some ways to feel a little bit of this experience, as we have books, films, the park and the museum for a more realistic experience. Also, we have another alternative to take Hogwarts to your house. Which one? A Harry Potter theme party!

We will show you some ideas to make your birthday party a little bit like the Harry Potter magic universe. Victória Gonçalves, who lives in São Paulo, Brazil, chose this theme for her 22 anniversary party. Many of the details she made at home, without spending too much money. Check it out!

9Âľ Platform

When students go to Hogwarts, the transition between the muggle station and the witch station is made by crossing a column at the 9¾ Platform. This moment was reproduced for the guests in the party entrance, indicating that it was the magic world. For that Victória used:

  • White TNT for the bricks effect;
  • A sponge with brown ink;
  • To be possible for the passage to be in the middle of the fabric, she cut it;
  • Glued a paper saying “9Âľ Platform” and put in the top of it;

The Flying Keys

One of the challenges in Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stone is to get to the stone that provides the elixir of eternal life. At some point, Harry, Ron and Hermione need to choose the correct key to open a door: to reproduce this challenge you’ll need:

  • Old keys;
  • Printed wings;
  • Nylon lines to connect the keys with the ceiling;

The Ministry of Magic officials go to their office through discharges of specific sanitary vessels;

Time to eat

To add a little bit of charm, the cake’s table is the most important thing in the party. Victória chose:

  • Panel (R$ 29,99) with bladders and a movies dessert (R$39,99);
  • Some personalizing items from collection;

  • Mandrake brigadeiros made with plastic dolls and artificial sheets. About R$1,50 the unity;

  • Chocolate sugar plum like a Golden Snitch with golden paper and wings;

  • Brigadeiros with the houses colors;

  • Candies representing the houses point;

When the guests arrive, the idea is to do a lottery with little papers and give them determined neckties of the Hogwarts houses. The necktie costs on average R$1,20.

Make a quiz

If the guests are like the birthday person, a big fan of Harry Potter, you can do a quiz with some questions about the films and books. To encourage the participation in the game, you can do some little presents to give the persons who hit the answers:

  • The love potion: filled with any kind of pink drink.

  • Felix Felicies: filled with bullets in the colors of the houses.

  • Chocolate frog.

  • Chocolate Golden Snitch.

  • Little boxes like Hogwarts bags.

Wanted

To encourage people to take picture, what do you think of a simulation panel of Sirius Black wanted on Harry Potter and Azkaban Prisoner?

To do this panel you will spend around R$26,00.

Now is only do and have fun in your party! Down here you will see one tutorial about how to do some decorations that we talked:

  • 9 Âľ Plataform
  • Chocolate frog
  • Golden Snitch
  • Sirius Black photos panel

Hope you like it!
