If you watched Disney growing up, you probably saw the movie “Enchanted”, where our protagonist Giselle is pushed by the Evil Queen into the real world, going through misfortunes  to find true love. Now, almost 15 years later, we finally got confirmation of a sequel to the movie of our childhoods. Here’s what we know:
- When and Where?
-
Even after waiting all this time, we may have to wait a little bit more. The initial release is set to be in 2022. However, we may expect the film to debut on Disney Plus, the company’s streaming service.
- Cast
-
Good news to every “Enchanted” fan. Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Idina Menzel and James Marsden are back to play their previous roles: Giselle, Robert Philip, Nancy Tremaine and Prince Edward, respectively.
Moreover, Maya Rudolph was cast to be the face of the new character Mavina, Giselle’s rival in her new life in Monroeville. Along with the new villain, we can expect Kolton Stewartand and Yvette Nicole Brown’s characters to create a lot of trouble for the enchanted princess.
If you are thinking that someone is missing from this list, you’re right. Our favorite little fairy godmother, Morgan, Robert’s daughter, is back now as a grown woman. Played by the newcomer Gabriella Baldacchino.
- The Creative Team
-
To direct the Disney sequel, we can count on the great work of Adam Shankman, the director of “Hairspray”. Alongside him, producing the music are Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, the previous songwriters whose work on “Enchanted” got nominated for three Academy Awards.
Also, for the roles of producer we have Barry Josephson, Amy Adams and Barry Sonnenfeld working side by side.
Producer Barry says: “I guess dreams do come true…producing Enchanted was the most rewarding film experience I’ve ever had. I’m so excited for Adam Shankman to begin filming Disenchanted. I want to thank everyone at Disney for supporting us all the way.”
- Songs, songs and more songs
-
Everyone that watched “Enchanted” remembers that Dempsey’s character, Robert Philip, didn’t dance or sing, which he made very clear during the musical number “How Does She Know?”. However, things don’t seem to be going this way in the new movie. Patrick has declared that for the first time in his career, he will be singing.
Even more, Stephen Schwartz said that the film will have seven songs and reprises, two of which will be by the talented Idina Menzel, who had her one song cut from the first film.
One thing is for sure, with all of that information we are more than excited for “Disenchanted” and to relive our childhood through the songs, characters and that special Disney feeling!
