Hope Can Change Brazil: História Do Futuro’s Review

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

Miriam Leitão, one of the most award-winning Brazilian journalists, after four years of researches made a magnificent book. The Brazilian future story is a portrait of the country we could have in the future and how society can make it possible.

The present-day of Brazil can be changed and the future can be not the catastrophe that we are expecting. However, for this to happen the changes should start now. She made lots of researches and interviews with experts and citizens to show the future predictions and what are the projects that are being developed to change the scenery.

A sustainable planet, a better health and educational systems are just some of the changes that we need. Besides that, she wrote about demography, technology and politics. Incredibly, there are visionary people already that see which is the way. The characters chosen to illustrate are life-like. How they changed their lives shows that is truly possible to make changes, so it causes reflections on who is reading.

One of the most enthusiastic parts is the relevance she gives to education. The children will be the future, so educate them is essential. For that, good teaching (especially in public schools, where there is the highest concentration of country’s students) well-paid teachers, technology will change the way to learn and teach. The school class will lose its contours and a new format will appear: collaboration environments, in which would be possible to find content in the cloud.

It is beautifully written, easy to understand, but it is sophisticated. The economic analysis uses the technical terms, but they are all understandable and well-explained. An extremely gripping story, each new information is exciting. An original and visionary book that should be read by all Brazilians and everyone who is interested in better understanding Brazil. See resolutions is a way to have hope in a hard political and economic crisis.
