Let’s Make It Underground: #15 Different Places To Visit In São Paulo

If you’re planning a trip to São Paulo and want to run away from the usual spots everybody recommends, or if you live in the city and are tired of hanging out in the same old places you always do, this article is for you.

For sure, Sao Paulo is way more than Masp and Avenida Paulista, so here are some tips of 15 different places that you may have never heard of, but sure you’ll like it. 

1. Round 2 Arcade Bar 

Nerd crew, this is your place! A fun bar with 80’s and 90’s vibe, Yoda and BB8 drinks, arcades and delicious burgers. If you wanna have a perfect game night with friends, the Round 2 Arcade Bar, located in Mooca district, is the right spot for you.

Location:  Rua Visconde de Laguna, 56 – Mooca – São Paulo São Paulo, Brazil

2. Skate Lane At Farol Santander 

Farol Santander is already known for its beautiful view of the city of SAo Paulo, exhibitions and gastronomic center, but not everybody knows that the building owns a skateboarding park of 300m2, where you can see the city from above. 

And if you don’t know how to skateboard, there’s no problem! The spot also has individual or group classes to teach everyone, from kids to adults.

3. Japan House 

A cultural center for you to discover Japan in a different way. Located at Paulista Avenue, in Japan House can be found food, exhibitions and experiences to be more connected with the Japanese culture. And only gets better: it’s free entrance!

Location: Avenida Paulista, 52, Sao Paulo 

Opening Hours:

Tuesday to Friday, 10am – 6pm 

Sundays and Holidays, 9am – 6pm 

4. Karaoke La Vaca 

A good place to have drinks, eat and hang out with friends, but with lots of music. They have 3 Videoke rooms and 3 restaurant areas. There’s only one rule : you can’t sound good in a karaoke, you have to go for fun.

Location: Rua Canuto do Val, 97 – Santa Cecília

5. Thrift Store No Fundinho 

A beautiful thrift store with a large collection of clothes and a vision of sustainable fashion. If you want to renew your wardrobe, forget the mall and go thrifting.

Mondays to fridays, 11am – 6pm 

Saturday 11am – 5pm 

6. Casa de Pedra 

Looking for some adventure? The Casa de Pedra it’s gonna make that happen. They have many climbing walls of different heights for you to experience some adrenaline.

Location: Rua Venâncio Aires, 31,  São Paulo 

Prices: 

R$ 65 – R$ 80 

Opening hours:

Mondays to fridays, 7am – 10pm 

Saturdays, sundays and holidays 12pm – 8pm 

7. Vassoura Quebrada 

A Harry Potter’s themed restaurant, with drinks that are potions and an environment that makes you feel like you’re in Hogwarts. All potterheads are gonna love it!

8. Movie Theaters 

Instead of watching a movie in the mall, why don’t go to a street movie theater? Theaters like Cinesesc, Reserva Cultural and Cine Marquise plays blockbusters, artistic festival movies and classic movies.

9. Roller Jam 

A roller skating rink where you can bring your own pair of rollers or rent one there, and skate enjoying the 80’s vibe of the place.

10. Casa Elefante

A house of vinyl records, coffee shop and live music! 

Location: Rua Santo Antônio, 234, sala 9 

11. Parque Augusta 

Go for a hike, walk the dog or make a picnic in this rare spot of green in the middle of the city and the gray buildings.

Location: Rua Augusta, 200, Consolação 

12.  Villa-Lobos Library

You can visit the gorgeous Villa-lobos Park and spend some hours reading in its huge library, enjoying nature’s view. 

Location: Av. Queiroz Filho, 1205, Sao Paulo 

13. Museum Of Modern Art (MAM) 

You may not know, but MASP is not the only great museum in São Paulo. The Museum of Modern Art (MAM), located in Ibirapuera Park, it’s an important center of culture in Brazil that you must visit

14. Yerba 

A coffee shop and bar with music, vinyl records and exchanging of books. Yes, this place can be everything.

10am – 10pm 

15.  Augusta 472 Rock Bar 

A bar with live rock music in the famous Augusta Street. The funny thing it’s that the name of the bar it’s also its address!

Prices: 

Drinks R$ 6 – R$ 37 

Food R$ 10 – R$ 38 

Opening Hours:

Wednesday to sundays, starting at 5pm
