5 Tips on Overcoming College Anxiety

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

As a college student specifically, there will be days, even weeks passing by where you think to yourself “ I need to get my life together”.  It’s hard maintaining homework, going to work, and having a prospering social life when you feel like your universe has turned upside down. You may see that girl who got an internship, the guy winning pageants with ease, and the student government president with the 4.0 and think that you’re not doing enough. So here are some quick tips on how you can put yourself back on track.

1. Ask for help! Indepence feels good until you find yourself crying alone in room wishing you reached out those to who were willing to help you prosper. Not the ideal picture you had in mind huh?

2.  Explore your interests, join an organization. This one is for everonye, but specifcally for my fellow introverts. It’s time we get our shells and explore hwat the world has to offer. Of course,us introverts can avoid people by binging shows on Netflix, but when the show is over who can we talk to? At this stage, many of us are lost and that’s perfectly fine! When in doubt join an organization. I took this advice and joing the CAU chapter of Her Campus. Not only have I gained a group of sisters, I now have friends to watch Netflix with and big sisters to giv me advice on life. Joining an organization or anything that seems interesting can help you discover your passion and eventually mold yourself into the adult to hope to become with the help of older members.

3. Network. This is similar to the second tip; however, networking is definitely something that will put you on track. As a mass media art major, networking is a huge part of success in that field, so if you feel lost attend a seminar geared towards your major. This will place you in a room with people who have similar goals, and questions; it may even help you find your true calling.

4. Pat yourself on the back. This tip defines self-love; you have already made it this far, why stop? You’re sitting in a college dorm, reading this and you’re not acknowledging that you’ve achieved that goal alone.

5. Remember, you’re young. This isn’t really a tip, but it’s more so a fact. We’re all so young, and to believe that we would all have together at age 19-20 is unrealistic. In relation to tip number one, some people still live off of their parents and that is okay, some don’t and that is okay too. What is okay, however, knows that you have to enjoy your youth, and enjoy the mystery. Enjoy not knowing what will happen next, and celebrate yourself.
