College can be defined as our turning point where we leave our childish ways behind and figure out who we are as young adults. This is one of the most trying times because we see people we may want to be like, try things we’ve never experienced before and step out onto everything with faith, hoping that something good comes of every jump. College is fun, challenging and filled with adventure. Through it all, the most important thing to come out of college with is not a job, but a clear path with a purpose fueling every step. But have no fear, here are some ways to get there.
Â
Trust Yourself
There is a reason why you were blessed with those specific talents you possess. God was very intentional when he created us. He birthed us with certain wants and desires, not by mistake. So pay attention to what those may be. Don’t ignore your gifts because they will lead you to your purpose. This is when trusting yourself becomes very important. You may see someone with a different major than you and think that it looks so extravagant and interesting. Or you may hear about someone else’s successful experience in their field and want to change your major or path to theirs, but deep down you know you never really liked that subject when you were in it. If your passion is science, don’t switch to fashion just because it’s the new fad. Trust your own talents, gifts and passions. Start there, by knowing yourself, what you love and what you’re not a fan of.

Seek Knowledge & Do Your Research
While in college take advantage of all knowledge and networking opportunities surrounding you. Really pay attention and learn what your classes, professors, and advisors are teaching. Don’t just finesse your way through and not absorb anything. Knowledge and wisdom are the keys to life. Also, the more you know your field and passions the more effective you’ll be in the pursuit of your purpose. Be a sponge to the positive and beneficial outlets surrounding you in college, because the more you experience, the more you’ll learn about life and yourself.
Commit to It
The hardest and scariest part of figuring out your passions, purpose and path is actually sticking by it when you know what is true! This is when the real journey begins. Trust in God and know that he’s leading you. Committing to your purpose is important because as you continue to make steps to improve and perfect your craft, no matter what, you’ll always be in motion. Regardless of how many times you fail, it will become a learning lesson and will be moving you closer and closer to achieving your goal. When you constantly move in your purpose all things will be used for your good. However, if you step away from your truth to try out other things, over and over again, knowing that’s not where you’re meant to be, then you won’t be on your right path. Significant results only take place when you walk on your path, if you continuously move off your path you are simply prolonging the process.
Since you are alive, already know that God created you with a purpose. There is something he put you on this earth to do. Trust yourself and know that you have the ability to be as successful as you allow yourself to be. Have confidents in your talents and continuously expand them and better them. Once you figure out your purpose your path will become clearer and clearer. Know that your purpose is so much more important that any job or title. God has birthed a purpose in us bigger than we can ever imagine that will not only bring us joy, but bring joy to so many others around us. So to my fellow collegiate ladies, trust yourself, trust the Lord, and keep moving in your passions, purpose and greater path.
