Fly High With the Best & Worst Revealed!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

Let me make this clear: I do NOT like flying. The thing is I hate driving even more so a road trip is simply out of the question. That being said I fly a good bit. I think my record is seven flights in the span of two months. I’ve flown with most airlines and so now I’m here to give you my personal review of the major airlines.

  1. American Airlines

I guess I’ll start with the bad first…honestly its like if something is going to go wrong it does. American and I just recently met and I personally vow to end our relationship asap. I’ve had poor customer service, missed a fight, had to be escorted through TSA because they spelled my name wrong on my ticket, and just generally had the most trouble getting on my flight. The good news is on every flight I’ve had with them which is four or five, I’ve had free movies.

  1. Alaska

Such a nice company. Really. The lines weren’t too long, they had military discounts, and even special privileges for retired and active military.

  1. Delta

It would be almost impossible to go to school in Atlanta and not fly with Delta. I love them because they have their own security check in Harts-Field Jackson International Airport which means way faster service. I once arrived 40 minutes before my flight and still made it without crying or cutting in line. Plus, they have good direct flights which means no interrupted sleep.

  1. Southwest

Some people love them and some people hate them. Personally, I’m fond of them. I love that I don’t have to pay for bags because I mean really, I already shelled out hundreds of dollars for this flight the least you could do is let me check in two bags. The downside is not getting to pick your seat…I’ve been lucky though and have gotten window, aisle and front row seats 70% of the time. They don’t really have any frills but the flight attendants are always nice and customer service isn’t a hassle.

  1. Spirit

So I’ve taken one trip with them and to be honest it was not the worst thing to ever happen to me. The flight was $80 so I didn’t expect much. You get what you pay for right? No one was rude. The flight made it on time. I wouldn’t take anything longer than a two hour flight with them but if you can get a bargain with them and you don’t need to check any bags I say why not?
