Name: Imara Danielle Vaughn
Hometown: Campti, Louisiana
Major: English
IG/Twitter: none
Zodiac sign: SagittariusÂ
What inspires you? “I’m inspired by others’ testimonies. Testimonies tell me that no matter the circumstance, no matter WHAT odds are stacked against you, with faith and work, any goal is achievable.”
One thing you can’t leave the house without? ChapstickÂ
Short-term goals? Write my first book before graduation, graduate from CAU cum laude, and get accepted into Howard Law School on scholarship.
Long-term goals? In the long run, I would like to become a recognized published author, a defense attorney and notable civil rights activist, and to regularly do missionary work in third-world countries.
Favorite quote? “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed you shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” Matthew 17:20
Favorite food? French fries
Favorite color? PlumÂ
Hobbies? “I write and perform spoken word poetry. I also love to draw, but I don’t find much time to do that anymore. I love to sing too!”
Favorite hangout spot? “My room! My room is like my sanctuary. Every morning, I have what I call “Jesus Time” where I wake up at 6:00am and just pray, read my Bible, and sing and dance in praise and worship. My Jesus time in my room is literally what keeps me sane. I know that if everything and everywhere in the world is unruly, I can always find peace of mind in the presence of the Lord! So really to answer that question, anywhere God’s spirit is.”
Why CAU? “I chose to attend CAU because I loved the show “A Different World,” and I wanted to attend a school just like Hillman College, which I thought was in Atlanta. When my cousin went to CAU, she would tell me about her experience, and I fell in love with her stories. CAU is in Atlanta, and it seemed like a great experience.”
Organizations on campus? Student Government Association Junior Class Vice President, Femdelacreme, Isabella T. Jenkins Honors Program, National Council for Negro Women, Peer Teaching Assstant for First Year Seminar and Men’s Basketball Team Manager.
One piece of advice? “My sisterrrrrs!!! You deserve the world on a silver platter. Don’t ever, no matter what, settle for anything less than what God would deem fit for his daughter! You’re born an heiress, so why live like a peasant?”
Where do you see yourself in the next 10 years? “In the next ten years I see myself signing autographs for another one of my best sellers, leading a protest against an unjust judicial system, debating with some enraged white supremaciston on CNN  about how race is still a factor in America, even in 2025, and telling underprivileged black children that they do not have to be victimized or limited by their environment and that they can do anything they want with the proper education and support (and I’ll be that support).”
Favorite season? “Winter! Even though I hate being cold, I love the feeling of the crisp air. I also love the holidays.”
How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Spiritual, compassionate, intellectual
What’s your favorite holiday? Why? “Christmas of course! Not only because it celebrates the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, but because people seem to be more compassionate, giving and just joyful at that time of year.”
Do you have any siblings? “I have two older brothers and an older sister.
Fun Fact: My sister and I are only 10 months 16 days apart. She was born in January, and I was born in December of the same year.”
