The dating scene in college can range from Netflix & Chill to high class Galas with the mayor dates. So many options, yet so many prices. There are many fun inexpensive dates to explore throughout the city of Atlanta!
Piedmont Park
is a beautiful scenic area where people exercise, take walks, eat at local eateries and genuinely enjoy the company of who they came with. Whenever you’re trying to Uber to the park, it’ll be approximately a quick 15-20 minute trip and can be even cheaper using UBER pool (approximately $3). Piedmont Park offers a multitude of cheap eating establishments, one I happen to recommend is The Nook. The Nook is a cute restaurant that is right in front of the park entrance, it has the perfect decor for Instagram, and delicious food for $15 and under. After a quick lunch, head over to the park with nothing but a blanket, some snacks, a speaker and some wine…or juice (y’know for the kids). This date is perfect for the spring time or a breezy summer day, but it also doesn’t even have to be a date at all. For my single readers, do this with a group of your girlfriends to relax after a stressful week of being a black woman in college.
SkyView
The SkyView in Atlanta is a large Ferris wheel located near Centennial Park. Since this article is aimed towards adults, you will be paying the adult prices for these tickets unless you can finesse. Adult tickets for SkyView are $13.89+ tax and are well worth this minimal price. Once you’re at the peak of the SkyView, you will get the perfect aerial view of downtown, Atlanta. I recommend going on the SkyView at night so that you can see the nightlife aspect of the city, it’s really amazing just watching so many lives go on at a single time. However, for college students, you can get tickets for $12.50+ if you bring your college ID, a very convenient thing for the struggling college students who want to have some fun.Â
Cascade
“Cause I always rock the new new” – Lauren London. Yes, if you live in Atlanta and you’ve seen the movie ATL, you’ve probably wanted to go skating here. The entry fee for the skating ring is $13.00 and skate rental is $3.00 ( Unless you happen to have your own). This skating rink is definitely the perfect place to have fun with your partner and it’s even better if they can’t skate and you help them learn (don’t try this on a Sunday). However, this again is a nice place for the single sisters out there, just grab some friends, eat some pizza, maybe some wings and enjoy a night at the rink.
Fernbank Planetarium
This inexpensive date idea is for my readers that love science or discovering new facts about life beyond our earth. The Fernbank Planetarium is free admission on Friday and Thursday nights and $7 regularly. The planetarium gives you a 360 view of life throughout our endless universe. This planetarium offers a special night where they show you the circular view of what the moon currently looks like on that night as well, which is interesting and fun for anyone who wonders about our moon as well. The performances last anywhere between 30-40 minutes roughly and afterward you can eat at one of the surrounding restaurants.Â
Starlite Drive-In
To all the ladies that have had the dream date of a drive-in movie, this one is for you. The Starlite Drive-In theater is a theater that is outside so that watchers may view it from either their car or outside on blankets and lawn chairs. An adult ticket for this theater is only $8 which is a lot cheaper than most of the regular theaters in Atlanta. Another convenience to this theater is that you can bring your own food or buy something inexpensive from the concessions stand. The theater includes four, large theater screens so they can only play specific movies at different times. This is a great date if you’re trynna get your Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko on.Â
