Out with the Old, In with the New: The Latest News in Campus Renovations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

Have you ever wondered where your tuition money goes? Many students have this concern and Clark Atlanta University is putting our minds at ease with the advancements on campus! With a new and improved cafeteria, renovated promenade, and the new addition of restaurants, students are buzzing with excitement!

The cafeteria now has a sleek and comfortable décor that makes students’ dining experience even more enjoyable. The size of the eating area has increased, and the food selections in the café are much more diverse. “I didn’t really like to go to the café much before, but with that new Japanese station, I can’t stay out of there,” said Kirsten Johnson, sophomore at Clark Atlanta University.

The area of the promenade near the library is also noticeably more popular. Students now have benches to lounge on, and a nice view of the greenery being incorporated in the area. Even the ground has been renovated, so the pavement has a fresh new pattern and look. Though this seems like a minor change, students have definitely taken notice. “I personally love that there are no more cracks in the concrete, it just really makes our school look better, and it definitely should increase everyone’s pride in the appearance of our university,” said Alyssia McCloud, a junior at Clark Atlanta University.

Though all of the changes at our university are being noticed, the most talked about addition has definitely been the restaurants on campus. Moe’s, the popular Mexican chain is now available at Clark Atlanta University, and the line at the restaurant is always out the door. “Well everyone knows I love Mexican food, so I am always hitting up Moe’s before or after practice. It’s just very convenient to have my favorite food accessible on the campus,” said Destini Walton, a member of the CAU Mighty Marching Panther Band.

Dunkin’ Donuts has finally made its debut this semester, and it definitely has been an adjustment for many. “I like Dunkin’ Donuts, but I have gotten so used to Jazzman’s, and it’s so good, but now Jazzman’s is cutting back on what they offer” said McCloud. The improvements being made to this campus are evidence of a faculty and staff who really care about this university. The excitement floating around Clark Atlanta University holds promise of a delightful semester filled with good food, fun times, and of course, interesting classes!
