Tyler White, The Super RA with a Masterplan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

Name:Ā Tyler White

Hometown:Ā Baltimore, MD by way of Natchez, MS

Classification:Ā Senior

Major:Ā Dual Engineering and Mathematics with a concentration in Architectural and Civil Engineering

IG:Ā @sir.king.leo

Dream job:Ā Entrepreneur by owning my own architectural firm

Top of bucket list:Ā To be on the Forbes 500 List

What/who inspires you?Ā Great-grandparents because they told me to be the best I can be at any time and being the best RA as possible.

One thing you canā€™t leave the house without:Ā A smile because Iā€™m always laughing regardless of any situation. Every day I try to leave the house with positive energy and a smile.

Short-term goals:Ā Finish college with both degrees and attend a masterā€™s program

Long-term goals:Ā Be one of the top entrepreneurs in my industry and create the next wonders of the world

Celebrity crush:Ā LedisiĀ and Jill Scott because I love their down-to-earth soul music and oar about them.

Favorite quote:Ā To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late and to be late is just unacceptable

Hobbies:Ā Drawing, cooking (well-known chef of theĀ AUCĀ lol), sleeping (favorite of all time), shopping and styling

Favorite hangout spot:Ā Depends on the environment and where Iā€™m at. In Baltimore,Ā TGIĀ Fridays. Atlanta,Ā BuckheadĀ and Midtown. Mississippi, my neighborhood

WhyĀ CAU?Ā CAUĀ was my second choice becauseĀ NCA&TĀ was my first choice. I choseĀ CAUĀ because it was something about the school drawn me to come here.

Organizations on campus:Ā 1stĀ Attendant toĀ Man of the Year (14-15), Living in Green,Ā NSBE,Ā CAUĀ Worship Choir, Every pageant and coordinator on campus, Homecoming Chairperson. Just about every club you could think of Iā€™ve been on it and then some. Iā€™m that go-to for plugs if you need help getting in one.

Something no one knows:Ā Iā€™m a quiet person. I talk to a lot of people and know a lot of people but I enjoy peace and quiet by myself.

One piece of advice:Ā Be happy. Itā€™s hard striving to be happy. You can have the job that you want, but do what makes you happy at the end of the day.

What/who inspired you to become an R.A.:Ā Iā€™ve always been a hard worker so I wanted to give an extended hand to the futureĀ CAUĀ panthers and thatā€™s what I wanted to do.

You are called the ā€œSuper RAā€ and there must be something exciting or interesting having this position. What is it having that title for so long and not quitting:Ā Iā€™m an efficient and effective person. I have a strategic plan of how I coordinate my job. I take everything with a grain of salt because I make sure Iā€™m making sure everyoneā€™s safety is in good hands. Iā€™m not afraid to step on anyoneā€™s toes by any means, but thatā€™s how it supposed to go.

Congratulations on your acceptance to North Carolina A&T for their dual degree engineering program. Can you elaborate what you will be doing with your degree:Ā Iā€™ll be finishing my Math degree atĀ CAUĀ and continuing my extension toĀ NCA&TĀ on Engineering. Once Iā€™m finished, Iā€™ll be starting on my career. Right now, Iā€™m taking (Renovations Rehab-bringing back history to the neighborhoods that currently or previously existed.)

You are the founder of the Kingā€™s Men Alliance. What is your program about, what is its mission for the organization and what has your program done within the past year?Ā It came from my platform; (Return of the KINGS) Knowledgeable Intellectual Noble Gentlemen of Sophistication. I refer to myself as a King, so no matter what society says every man is a king. Here atĀ CAU, we donā€™t have a lot of male figures on campus and I wanted to bring self-awareness. Partnering with myĀ RAsĀ in my building, we hosted ourĀ 3rdĀ annual Thanksgiving Dinner. We had a seminar on SMART goals-what they hope to achieve when graduating. I also have a Goals of Objective Program- guys donā€™t really talk about how they feel so we discuss and write whatā€™s really going on.

Spring Break plans:Ā Maybe Miami or Las Vegas. Where ever it takes me.

Greatest memory of 2015: March-finally hit me that I was senior, I was cleared via email that I can sign up for classes and my niece 1stĀ birthday sheā€™s just a ball of joy.

Homecoming or founders week: Homecoming because I was behind the scenes the whole time so I got to see what happened and receive feedback what can we improve on.

Fast food or soul food: Soul Food because I love to cook. I have people who also cook because I donā€™t taste my own food so I have people who have a good taste palette and just have a good time.

What does black history mean to you: Black history means black excellence. I celebrate black history; ā€˜black history monthā€™ doesnā€™t really mean anything because we were incorporated into history and we created monumental things for our country.

Best memory atĀ CAU: Freshman year-hanging on the promenade and hanging inĀ MernerĀ Hall being the King ofĀ Merner. Meet new friends that turn to friendships to sisterhood and brotherhood.

As a senior, what legacy do you want to leave? I feel like I left a legacy of hard work and dedication. Iā€™ve done a lot on campus where people come to me for any help whatsoever. From helping remodel the cafeteria to negotiating contracts to fixing the end of the promenade, I can truly say Iā€™ve done a lot as a futureĀ CAUĀ Alumnus because itā€™s always good to do a lot for your school now and when you graduate because this becomes a part of your home.
