1. Rediscover your favorite Starbucks drink
Sadly, (traditional) Frappuccino season is coming to an end, which means Happy Hour is now a thing of the past and “iced or hot” will no longer be a regular question from your favorite barista. Now, it’s time to reconnect with your favorite hot solace. Thankfully, the Pumpkin Spice Latte has already returned, making our transition somewhat less traumatic.
2. Pick out your Halloween costume
Halloween is serious. You can’t wear the same costume you wore last year or even a variation because it was so well documented on Instagram, but you don’t have time to come up with a dramatically creative ensemble. Just channel your inner diva, and leave the world in awe over it!
3. Stock up on scarves
Finally, scarf season is back! We’re still in the awkward transition from light, patterned scarves to the heavy-duty cotton ones that keep us warm through winter. But be on the lookout for sales, deals, and or anything that will match your taste for fall.
4. Find your boots
Yes, it’s finally time to put away the flip-flops and sandals, and dust off of your knee-high leather boots for their first appearance of the season. With this bi-polar weather you may even have to pull out the Uggs prior to Thanksgiving break.
5. Update your “walking to class” playlist
We all have them, the one playlist we start before we lock our doors. That one mix that keeps the pep in our step consistent while we trek across campus to meetings, class, and other obligations. Although “Fancy” and “No Problem” were fun driving to and from the beach this summer…it’s time to move on.
6. Prepare yourselves for cuffing season
When leaves fall, so do emotional barriers. As soon as it hits 65 degrees and below, old feelings begin to resurface and nostalgia melts the coldest of hearts. So ladies, brace yourselves for the “I miss you” texts the “I was looking through my phone and saw this” texts **insert the picture you two took last year **, and the “thought about you today” texts. Just make sure you see it coming before it hits this year!
7. Select a new series to binge watch your way through the winter
Orange is the New Black isn’t returning until 2015, and you’ve already watched all seven seasons of Gossip Girl three times. It’s time to buckle up and find a fall obsession to get you through the cold winter…well an obsession other than Scandal. Maybe How to Get Away with Murder? Definitely. Anything associated with Shonda Rhimes is addictive, so there’s no need to worry.
