1. Asking someone out via note/AIM would be completely acceptable.There is nothing more uncomfortable for guys or girls than trying to figure out the whole “will you be my girlfriend?” “let’s go steady,” “#Bae or nah” ordeal.
2. Valentine’s Day gifts/ birthday gifts/ christmas gifts/ monthaversary gifts were literally candy. That’s all. Not these $600 edible arrangements- which by the way look completely worth the money.
3. The most physical pressure you had was a kiss in the hallway or on the bus ramp. I mean even hugging was a big deal back then.
4. “My mom said no…” is a good enough excuse for ANYTHING
5. The school dance was the perfect place to make your move and secure #bae when “Low” came on.
6. Going to the movies every Friday night didn’t make your boyfriend lazy… it made him SUPER ROMANTIC.
7. There was no expectation to talk all the time. If anything, maybe talking on the phone or a few MySpace wall comments. Nowadays there has to be 24 hour texting, tweeting, and FaceTiming, to prove your love is real.
8. Flirting=20 Questions. We alllll know how that game ended.
9. There doesn’t have to be a legitimate reason for breaking up. And you can be in a new relationship the next week and no one thinks twice about it.
