We’re so proud to designate this week’s Campus Celebrity to senior and Minnesota native Dana Mansfield! Whether she’s working with other high school students through her organization, Catalyst Conference, or helping UNC students navigate their way through UNC, Dana knows how to represent her school with an enthusiastic passion!
HC: Where do you spend the majority of your time?
DM: I’m pretty much a busy body; I’m always doing something new and different each day. But I really like to spend my time in the Campus Y – whether it’s studying or helping out with the organization I’m a part of, called Catalyst Conference. I always end up in the Campus Y at least once a day.
HC: What is Catalyst Conference about?
DM: Catalyst Conference is a weekend event where high school students from all over North Carolina come to UNC for a weekend to learn about social justice and diversity. They get to get a feel of the UNC experience. This year I’m co-director for the conference.
HC: And you were an RA on campus, where at?
DM: Yea, so I was an RA in Hinton James my junior year, which was a lot of fun. I loved being with first years, it was a great environment.
HC: Why did you choose UNC?
DM: That’s kind of a tough question. I chose UNC because I wanted to feel something different. I wanted to feel a different culture. I loved how it was a balance between academics, athletics and social life. And it seemed like people really had a lot of school experience. That’s something I really admired about UNC.
HC: What are three words that people use to describe you?
DM: I would say people describe me as outgoing, passionate and warm.
