Mr. and Mrs. Pitt

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

Mr. and Mrs. Pitt? That’s right, it’s official; Hollywood It-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are getting married!  There is already much speculation about the eminent wedding, from whether the couple’s children will play a role in the ceremony to the names of those on the elite guest list.  Rumors also surround the location of the ceremony, most hinting at a wedding in the south of France. But Italy and the Pitt’s home in Louisiana could also be possible options.

Although Brad and Angelina haven’t exactly had what would be considered a traditional romance, the duo are seen as romantic icons.  So much so that Americans have fondly dubbed the pair Brangelina. The couple is inseparable and has reached royalty status among Hollywood’s hottest couples. Angelina’s right leg gets more mentions on Twitter than natural disasters.

The couple first met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith,  which was filmed in 2004.  Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time. However, Pitt claims that there was no infidelity and he and Jolie were just friends at the time. Regardless, Jolie and Pitt make a great couple and will surely make an adorable family.

Pitt and Jolie claimed they wouldn’t get married until everyone had the right to do so, but pressure from the pair’s children gave them a change of heart.

“We’re not against it. It just doesn’t seem necessary,” Jolie once stated to Marie Claire, “He and I have never discussed it in detail, but I would assume — because we both went down that road before — it’s not that contract or that ceremony that makes you feel solid.”

Jolie and Pitt have a great relationship, filled with love and mutual respect.  They both have incredibly busy careers but still spend time with one another and their six children.

They both care passionately about each other, which was made evident by Jolie’s statement at the Golden Globes. When asked what she was most looking forward to that evening, the Associated Press says Jolie whispered, “Getting into bed with Brad.”

Jolie captured the attention of others because of her outspoken manner, style and her eccentric early years.

So two divorces and a vial of blood later, Jolie settled down with a man who would take care of her and respect her for who she is.  She had children of her own and adopted children from various conflict-ridden countries.  Jolie has become passionate about humanitarian causes such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

She was first spotted with the engagement ring at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Chinese Galleries on April 11. The ring is estimated at 16 carats and worth $500,000. It is reported that Pitt worked with jeweler Robert Procop for over a year to design her engagement ring and if that’s not love then I don’t know what is!
