Your Complete Valentine’s Date Style Guide

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

Whether you’re flying solo or have a romantic date planned this Valentine’s Day, you’re going to want to make it a night to remember. There’s something about February 14th — with the romance in the air and the abundance of pink and heart-shaped memorabilia — that makes it not just any other day of the year. Dressing up a little is fun and festive, and there’s nothing wrong with getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit!  Whether you spent hours picking out the perfect gift for your significant other, or you just want to have a night out with the girls, you might as well dress to impress!

Casual and Cute

This simple tank dress can be dressed down with a chambray shirt or dressed up with a blazer and fancy flats. Wear it for a more casual daytime date or for dinner with your friends. The neutral backdrop is perfect for one of your favorite statement necklaces!

Fun and Flirty

Try an outfit like this if your Valentine’s Day plans involve going dancing or heading to your favorite bars. This year the day happens to fall on a Friday, so you have no excuse not to get out and have fun! The white bottoms balance the bright pink top while gold accessories keep it glam. Thick heels ensure you won’t be slowed down. This is definitely an outfit for when you want to get noticed!

Bold and Sophisticated

If you’re worried about looking too obnoxious this V-Day in bright pink, consider a bold red dress with a simple cut. Much like a dressed up version of the first outfit, this allows you to go as fashion forward as your heart desires with the accessories without looking overly trendy.

Girly and Romantic

In a pale pink and lacy dress, this look is for collegiettes going all out for Valentine’s! If you’re lucky enough to have plans you’re really looking forward to, this is the perfect opportunity to dress to impress. Throw a black peacoat, tights, and booties on with a girly dress like this one to ground it a little while remaining ultra chic. Choose accessories with pretty details to complement your put-together look like this flower cuff and glam drop earrings.

Valentine’s Day Beauty

You already have the perfect outfit, so have some fun with your makeup too!

Even if you just paint your nails some kind of red or pink, you’ll be showing a little love all week long!

Choose a lip color to complement your outfit- go ahead and try a bold shade you’ve been wanting to test out or work a subtle hint of color with a less concentrated lipstick like Maybelline Color Whisper (which we scored at Her Campus and Teen Vogue’s Back to School Saturday!)

Of course, if you really want to make an impression you can’t forget those few crucial spritzes before you walk out the door! We paired each outfit above with a unique perfume to complement it. After all, scent is the longest-lasting memory!

Collegiettes, what are you wearing this Valentine’s Day? Let us know in the comments– and make sure to have a blast this fourteenth!
