16 Thoughts You Had While Watching the VP Debate, Told by Parks and Rec

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

1. Even before the debate, a moderator referred to the vice presidential candidates as “just two dads.”

2. One of the first things Gov. Mike Pence did was call the venue the wrong name.

Sorry Pence, “Norwood” isn’t synonymous with “Longwood.”

3. Pence shook his head more times than he spoke words.

4. Sen. Tim Kaine kept interrupting, even following pleas from the moderator to stop.

5. When Kaine used “The Apprentice” references by calling Clinton a “you’re hired president” and Trump a “you’re fired president.”

6. Pence basically said Trump was qualified to be president because, “he isn’t a public servant, he’s a businessman” and “he isn’t a polished politician.”

Good thing we got that cleared up.

7. When the moderator has to take the role of a second grade teacher and tell the candidates that people at home can’t understand them when they talk over each other.

8.) When the candidates discussed moments where their faith contradicted legislation and you actually remember they’re both human beings.

9. When Pence refers to undocumented immigrants as “criminal aliens.”

10. When Pence asked Kaine, “Have you been working on that one for a long time?” after Kaine slayed him.

Do you want ice for that burn, Pence?

11. When the candidates started ferociously writing while the other one was talking and you knew it was about to go down.

12. When Pence kept saying he’ll see Kaine in the Senate.

How long have you been working on that one, Pence?

13. When Pence brought up a Russian proverb right after he tried to refute that Trump is pro-Putin.

14. When the only thing the VP candidates agreed on is that America is superior to Russia.

15. When the moderator needed to remind the candidates that she asked a question about North Korea after they both answered by talking about the Trump and Clinton Foundation for five minutes.

16. When you realize that the American political system is in dire need of reform.

Your vote matters and is necessary to make your voice heard. GO VOTE!
