Is it just me or has 2016 just felt like a really long year? Here’s a recap of moments from 2016, and yes, even though it might not seem like it, all these things did in fact happen just in this year.
Hillary Clinton slected as the first female presidential nominee:
Clinton became the first female presidential nominee for a major political party. Throughout her campaign, she advocated for issues affecting women.
Rio Olympics:
Team USA killed it during the summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Some highlights included gymnast Simone Biles being the first U.S. olympic team member to win four gold medals and Michael Phelps’ final Olympics before his retirement.
Lady Gaga’s Oscar performance:
During the Oscars, Lady Gaga gave a powerful performance of her song “Til It Happens to You.” Sexual assault survivors appeared with her on stage to show that they’re getting through.
Pokémon Go:
This app mesmerized the minds of even non-gamers and instantly became super popular. People were wandering the streets staring at their phones trying to find the next Poké stop.
Premiere of Beyoncé’s “Lemonade”:
Beyoncé captured everyone’s attention when she teased the premiere of a new project on social media. The Beyhive went crazy when they found out it was a visual album for HBO.
The death of Vine:
Six second videos that we found hilarious but don’t really know why will soon be a thing of the past. In November, Twitter announced that it couldn’t continue the popular mobile app Vine.
