Remember that video going around social media about the guy that broke into Coachella and got some incredible footage out of the experience? Well, MTV made a documentary about him and it’s the most amazing thing we’ve seen all week.Â
No Cameras Allowed is an extended interview with James Marcus Haney, who became (in)famous for breaking into Coachella without a ticket by posing as part of the press. Haney talks not only about his experiences behind the scenes at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Ultra, and other music festivals, but everything that was going on in his personal life during that time as well (including a love story that is just too darn cute).
The interview is accompanied by cartoons that illustrate the experiences Haney had with his friends. The breathtaking footage will make any festival non-believer seriously requestion their distaste. However, for those of you who live for music festivals, No Cameras Allowed is going to make you feel like a super basic loser who actually bought a ticket without much to show for it other than some cute Instagrams. If you find yourself identifying way too well with that description, (I know I do) don’t worry. No Cameras Allowed helps you relive your unforgettable experiences at your favorite festivals by featuring performances by Mumford and Sons (who he ends up going on tour with), Jay-Z, The Naked and Famous, MGMT, and so many more.
Long story short, everyone needs to see this documentary. Want to know the best part about it? You can watch it for free on MTV’s website (not kidding). MTV hasn’t come out with anything super relevant since The Hills ended in 2010, so I would like to take this time to applaud my former favorite TV channel.
Five stars.
