Review: TRESemmé Perfectly Undone Hair Products

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.
The good people at HerCampus HQ love to spoil their writers and we love to be spoiled! When they sent samples of TRESemmé’s latest “Perfectly (Un)Done” range, I knew I had to give them a try and let y’all know what I thought. Both products are made with sea kelp extract and say that they are “Suitable for naturally straight or wavy hair.”

Overall, I will say that I like the packaging—it is a sleek black and red, which is pretty consistent for the brand. Both products smell nice—not overpowering if you want to wear a perfume, but definitely a nice, refreshing, salon scent. I also love that the full-size of each product is only $6.99—a total steal for professional-grade styling products.

Here is what I thought of each product individually:

Wave Creation Foam:

To get waves in my hair, I did what I normally do: washed my hair, let it get about 85% dry, then French braided it, applying the foam from roots to ends. When I woke up in the morning, my hair was wavy and lovely.

I am a bit torn on this product. I really appreciated how light the product was—often times I find that a mousse can weigh my thin hair down, making it look even flatter than it already is—so the fact that this didn’t take away any volume was great.

The reason that I am torn is that I really don’t think it did much for my hair. I achieved the same natural-looking beachy waves with the mousse as I would have without.

One definite asset was the texture of my hair after I used it. My hair tends to get really soft directly after washing it, making it hard to style freshly washed hair. I think putting some of this in damp hair and either blow-drying or sleeping on it would help styling immensely.

Sea Salt Spray:

I used the same braiding method on my hair as I did with the mousse, leaving the extra products out this time. After I took my hair out of the braids, I spritzed some of the sea salt spray all over my head and tousled it a bit.

I must say, I was extremely impressed by this product. My hair didn’t get frizzy, looked texturized and effortless, and, best of all, my waves lasted through a night of roller coasters at Kennywood.

The texture of my hair was what I loved the most—my waves didn’t look too “done” and never felt sticky or crunchy like sea salt sprays can make my hair. I would say that this is better than any lower end sprays that I have tried, and maybe even better than the higher end ones too!
