An on-campus job is convenient, flexible and educational. It’s also an extraordinary addition to your resume. No matter what you want to do after Chatham, there’s a student employment position that will equip you with the skills and experience you need to be successful.
If you want to be: An Actor
Apply to be: Carson the Cougar (Mascot)
Whether you dream of performing Shakespeare onstage or starring in a sitcom, working as a mascot is fantastic preparation. Mascots need to “play it big” as often as they need to engage one-on-one with fans. You’ll learn how to communicate without speaking, adapt to changing circumstances and comfortably improvise.Â
If you want to be: An Outdoor Adventure Tour Guide
Apply to be: A Climbing Wall Assistant
A Climbing Wall Assistant is part monitor, part motivator. You’ll be responsible for ensuring climbers’ safety while providing the motivation students need to overcome fears or obstacles. And if you’re serious about an active career, the belayer certification you’ll earn during training is an excellent skill to share with future employers.
If you want to be: A Nonprofit Executive
Apply to be: A Phonathon Caller
Nonprofits survive on financial gifts; working at the Phonathon will give you the skills you need for successful fundraising. The callers reach out to alumni and other friends of the university to keep them connected to campus and request contributions to the Annual Fund, ensuring that all Chatham students have the scholarships they need. If the idea of asking people for money sounds intimidating, don’t worry: You’ll get plenty of time to prepare, and you’ll have the guidance of both University Advancement staff and veteran Phonathon Callers. By the time you’ve finished your last shift, you’ll have no trouble picking up the phone and advocating for an organization you believe in.
If you want to be: A Party Planner
Apply to be: A Late Night Coordinator
From concerts to craft nights, Late Night Coordinators ensure that campus life is always fun. From brainstorming to decorating, you’ll have a hand in every element of event planning.Â
If you want to be: AÂ Police Officer
Apply to be: AÂ Public Safety Student Assistant
If you’re interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice, don’t miss this opportunity to work with Chatham’s police officers! You’ll answer the phones, help with paperwork and serve as the first point of contact for the campus community. It’s a huge responsibility and a great opportunity to find out what goes into successful police work.Â
