Winter is coming and waking up in the morning gets more difficult week by week. A cup of coffee might be the right solution to start a great day, but the toughest part comes when it is time to dress up. “I can’t find anything to wear for this cold weather!” Who never said that once in a lifetime?
Jumpers and coats hide the uniqueness of clothes but I can assure you there are ways to look fashionable and feel cosy enough even if there are penguins outside your house. Accessories is the magic word that is going to make you look both casual and trendy.
This year classics have been redesigned to look more modern, but without losing the charming vintage touch. Let’s find out what are the six accessories that can spice your winter style up a little bit.Â
1. French beretThis typical French hat can definitely keep your head warm, while being fashionable at the same time. Its round shape and flat crown make it so recognisable, and both women and men can wear it. This time girls don’t have the exclusive! However, if the classic and boring black one doesn’t inspire you (except for guys, I suppose), why don’t you dare with some extravagant colours and patterns? Well, in London you can!
2. Winter turban headbandSame old story: ladies want to keep their heads and ears warm but don’t want to look all messed up. That’s why this winter knitted headbands are definitely another trend for the F/W 2014 fashion season, and I bet you haven’t seen many girls walking around London wearing it. It’s impossible to resist to this warm, chunky headband!
3. ScarvesScarves are a must-have winter accessory. They can literally save your life, especially during windy days in London (always on the agenda!). There is such a large variety that you just have to take your pick! However, designers this year proposed bright colours, originality and fluffy scarves that can help you create additional volume (rather essential!).Â
4. Sunglasses Sunglasses are a must-have under any circumstances, whether it’s sunny or cloudy, summer or winter. They are certainly not the most typical winter accessory, but they can help you to protect the eyes from the chilly air that makes you tear. In London, sunny days during the cold season are very rare, but when the sun goes out why shouldn’t you show off your brand new pair of sunglasses?  I would pick the trendy, casual and elegant velvet one, making your winter style delicate and simple.Â
5. High-knee bootsThis sexy boots are the new trend for this winter, so you are practically forced to have them in your closet! They keep your legs nice and warm but spice your outfit up a little bit, allowing your skirts or dresses to be shorter. High-knee boots are perfect for both a morning at university or for a night out with your friends.
6. GlovesGloves are definitely necessary during winter time if you don’t want to end up with two blocks of ice instead of your hands. Having your bare fingers completely frozen is the worst feeling ever, so it’s quite important to keep a pair of good and warm gloves in your winter survival kit. The leather are the ones I prefer, because they protect your hands and are very light at the same time. It almost feels like you’re not wearing them! And the longer they are… The better it is! At least this time you won’t have to take them off if you are going to use your touch screen.
Final tip: Stay hot and comfortable but be creative and original! Enjoy your winter!
