The Student Voice Awards ceremony held on the 30th of March recognised Sophie Willis, from the School of Health Sciences, as SVAs Overall winner. Willis was also awarded for her work in personal tutoring, while the Programme Representative of the Year Award went to Emma Hollywell of the DPSych Counselling Psychology course.
The programme director at the Department of Culture and Creative Industries of the university’s School of Arts & Social Science Deborah Dickinson and School of Health Sciences’ Roberta Williams, who is the Associate Dean of Education Quality & Student Experience, both received honourable mentions for their outstanding works.
Students’ Union Vice President Education James Perkins hosted the event which was attended by more than 100 students and staff – including the University Deputy Vice Chancellor David Bolton.
Perkins expressed his delight tweeting: “Over 100 staff and students for our Student Voice Awards. So proud of what we have achieved.”
Set up by the staff at the Learning Development Centre in conjunction with the members of the Student’s Union, the Student Voice Awards was a scheme launched at City University London in 2008. The first awards were made in 2009 and since then, an annual ceremony is held to celebrate City University London’s member of staff and programme representatives for their exceptional contribution in making a positive difference in student experience.
