The Best Year of my College Career

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clarion chapter.

“Congratulations Courtney, Her Campus Clarion is officially launching on February 7!”

A quick, but long process, opened the biggest door that I never knew existed until a professor introduced me to Her Campus. Applying was 100% an impulsive decision, little did I know it would be the best one I make in my entire college career at Clarion.

We are now celebrating the one-year anniversary of our launch date. As silly as this sounds, it makes me emotional. I think about what the last year has given me in opportunities, friendships, and a different perspective on life and what I am capable of as an individual. This company is more than a website for college students. It’s a network of the most amazing individuals all getting this chance to be heard on what they want to say exactly.

There is no space for judgement, or for being un-included. It is diverse, and special, and a challenge.

What I have learned in the past year is, opportunity is out there, all you have to do is reach out and grab it. Be patient, be courageous, be kind. Tell yourself, “I know I can,” and “I’m lucky to see another day on this earth.” I have so much to be thankful for, which Her Campus has taught me.

I want to thank my team, especially the ones who have been involved since day 1. Thank you for the hard work and for the friendships. As I realize how quickly graduation is coming (in May, wow), I know I will never forget this time with you all. Especially our first year, because it was filled with hustle and heart. Thank you for the encouragement, and the patience, as we learned the ropes of what it took to become a Pink level chapter (my biggest accomplishment, ever).

This has truly been a dream come true. I want to thank Clarion University for allowing us to thrive on campus, and everyone who is an avid reader of the awesome content that the team creates. We are very grateful, and hope to have many more successful years at Clarion University.

HCXO,

Courtney McBride, Founder of Her Campus Clarion

Senior @ Clarion, studying Communications & Journalism. I sing in my school's A Cappella group, I play the ukulele and I love Her Campus with my whole heart.
