Clark is home to many musically talented students. A lot of those students play in the concert band or the jazz band on campus. What most Clarkies don’t know, however, is that as part of the consortium, Clark students are able to play in Holy Cross’s marching band –the “Good Time Marching Band” directed by Dr. Steven Riley.
It wasn’t until recently that Clark Students were able to play for the band. Clark senior Mary-Kate pioneered the connection between the colleges. Mary-Kate had toured Holy Cross and played a gig with the band. She wasn’t able to attend Holy Cross, and instead decided on Clark, but the director of Holy Cross’s band appreciated her enthusiasm and interest, and allowed her to play for the band, opening up the path for future Clark students.

Two students from the Class of 2019, Leanne and Andy, currently represent Clark in the Holy Cross marching band. Andy became involved in the band through a hometown friend that attends Holy Cross. Andy played in his high school band and enjoyed his experience, so when he found out about the opportunity to be a part of the Good Time Marching Band, he jumped on it.
The band plays a wide range of songs to pump up the crowd and team. Their home opener half time show featured songs by the Foo-Fighters: “Everlong”, “Learn to Fly” and “Pretender.” Every generation will appreciate the music from current day songs like “Pompeii” by Bastille to old songs like ”Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggings.
Come out and support our Clarkies at Holy Cross on October 8th, 15th and 22nd as they take the field spreading good vibes and great music.
