With the semester over half way through and finals on the horizon here’s a reminder about the importance of taking some time to do things for yourself. Everyone has different forms of self-care, it’s crucial to experiment and eventually find which is best suited for you. Here are some tips and examples of different forms of self-care to try to help each and everyone of us through the stress of everyday college life.
1. Resting
For some, a good nap or a nice day to sit around and watch our favorite movies is all we need to recharge and prepare ourselves for the weeks ahead. Also, just a reminder; we all need an adequate amount of sleep to function at our best potential so take a weekend day and dedicate it to having a lazy day or sleep in late one weekend.
2. Spending Time with Friends
It can be incredibly hard to manage our academic lives let alone our social lives, it’s important to make time for fun with those you love that are near and dear to you at school. Sometimes all we need is sometime to watch a movie or bake some cookies with some close friends to really unwind after a stressful week. Also think about going to one of Clarks many weekend events such as improv shows featuring either the Peapod Squad or Shenanigans, they’re hilarious!
3. Getting off Campus
Sometime or another we all need some time away from Clark just to clear our heads. Take advantage of the buses to the Solomon Pond Mall on Fridays, Blackstone Valley Mall on Saturdays and keep your eyes out for the occasional Boston bus in the What’s Happening newsletters.
4. Exercise
For some exercise can be an incredible form of self care, be sure to explore this form of self care and make some time in your schedule to see if exercise might just be the perfect way of cooling down after a long week. Clark offers many different groups to consider if hitting the gym might not always be the best way to help you calm down. Check out Clark Yoga to see if there may be a time for you to focus on your body and mind. Or check the Clark Zumba schedule to learn some killer dance moves with Kelly!
Whatever form of self-care is best for you just remember with the stress of college life we all need some time to ourselves to work at our best potential! So take care of yourself and try to find some time each and every week to practice your own form of self-care.
