Monday Meals with Monica: Country Bread

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clark chapter.

It’s Monday Meals with Monica! One thing lots of people have attempted during the pandemic is bread. But do you know the best recipe? Try this one.

Ingredients:

  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • 3 Tbsp oil

Combine yeast, sugar, salt, and flour. Add in water. Stir until it becomes a dough ball. Drizzle dough and bowl with oil. Damp a towel and tightly cover the bowl. Keep in a clean area for about two to four hours. If this is being made hours in advance, place in the fridge instead of the counter.

After allowing the dough to rise, bake in a 450* oven for 25-30 minutes.

To add more flavor: simmer crushed garlic and herbs in oil for about 15 minutes and use that within the bread before allowing it to rise.

If you have questions or suggestions for the next Monday Meal, please comment in the section below!
