If you are anything like me, the Holidays are extremely important to you. So, in light of the Holiday Season rapidly approaching, here are a few exciting traditions to look forward to!
1. Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner
Often times, people cook traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas Feasts that consist of favorites like Turkey, Ham, Stuffing (Or Dressing as some people like to call it), Casseroles, etc. And the desserts include Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Pies, Cobblers, Cakes, etc. Usually, that can be accompanied by some weight gain, but who cares when the food is so delicious, right!?
2. Decorations
It is a tradition in most families to decorate for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Usually, Thanksgiving decorations consist of pumpkins, fall flowers around the house and even a wreath on the front door with fall colors in it. And for Christmas, this increases tremendously with a Christmas tree decorated from top to bottom with lights, ornaments, and streamers. There is also a wreath that has traditional red, silver, and forest green colors on it and garlands placed throughout the house.
3. Cider and Eggnog
Most people during Thanksgiving have some type of Apple Cider (sometimes spiked, sometimes not) and the recipes for Cider are endless. Some people choose to use herbs and other aromatic spices in their Cider, while others stick to a simple traditional Hot Apple Cider. Now, I know that there are some people who do not like eggnog. However, for those of you that do, isn’t it amazing!? Again, this is another drink that can be made with unconventional flavors and spices and can even be spiked (for those 21 and older, of course). My favorite just so happens to be peppermint flavored eggnog!
4. Family
Being with family around the Holidays is the most rewarding experience a person could ever have. Everyone gathered in one place laughing, singing, and telling stories is the best part!
5. Shopping and Gift Giving
Usually, around the Holidays or sometimes even before, people shop for Christmas gifts for their families. The best and worst time to get gifts on sale is Black Friday when there is literally a sale EVERYWHERE! The same gifts that are bought during Thanksgiving are the same gifts given on Christmas Day and become the way people show their love to each other!
Are you as excited for these traditions as I am!?
