This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

Ian Bateman

Vice President of Clemson National Pan-Hellenic Council

Previous President of Clemson Black Student Union

Class of 2016

Psychology Major, Business Administration Minor

Hometown: Columbia, SC

Why did you choose Clemson?

It’s actually the only school I applied to. I originally wanted to be an engineer and this was the best school in the state. That desire went out the window very fast as I realized it’s not what I wanted to do. Psychology was originally my minor and I realized that’s what I loved.

What’s your favorite part about being greek affiliated? (Ian is part of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated)

Literally, anywhere I go I can find someone who is an Alpha or greek who shares in many of my experiences.

What’s something most of your peers don’t know about you?

I played the Chello for 8 years, I could not bring it with me to Clemson though because the instrument is to large so I have stopped playing.

What’s your favorite place on campus?

I’m not sure if it counts because I think it’s technically South Carolina property, but I love the botanical gardens. It’s extremely peaceful; being from Charleston I enjoy nature and beautiful scenery.

What are post-graduation plans for May 2016?

Graduate school for my Ph.D in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I’m currently looking at Georgia Tech, Clemson, and University of Central Florida.

Former Clemson Student Affairs Graduate Student and Clemson House Graduate Community Director. San Juan bred, Atlanta raised me.
Hey! My name's Liz and I'm a Sigma Kappa at Clemson University! I love my school more than anything in the world and love sharing that with y'all!!
