What the world needs now, is love, sweet love. That’s the only thing that there’s just too little of.

-Jackie DeShannon

It’s no secret that things have been extremely tense recently. There has been everything from bombings happening in the US and around the world to people being killed for various reasons. A lot of people are sad, angry, frustrated and it seems like there is not a light at the end of the tunnel. However, I firmly believe that love can put us all on a different path to making things better. If we were to collectively love each other no matter what our differences are, we would be in a much better position. Unfortunately, there are people who will never love people who are not exactly like them. For the people who are willing, I applaud you and I thank you.

For some people, loving others is not the issue it is showing that love to other people that makes things awkward. So in light of that, here are a few tips on how to show love to others.

1. A smile is enough. While walking past your peers on campus on while sitting next to someone in class, a smile could make the difference in a person having a good or bad day.

2. Do a random act of kindness. Everyone is this world needs a little help from time to time. If you see that a person has a need that they aren’t able to fulfill for themselves, do what you can, big or small, to try and help that person.

3. Write a kind letter. Recently, I have seen more and more people writing random letters of encouragement and putting them on the windshield of a person’s car or giving it directly to a person. People struggle so much in this world and a little encouragement could change the course of a person’s day.

There are probably more things that could be added to this list, but regardless of who you are, everyone deserves a little sunshine in their life. You could be the sunshine that someone is waiting for. What are you waiting for?

I am the type of person that will laugh in the middle of a silent room because of something that happened days ago!
