Hometown: Greenville, SC
Major: Biochemistry
What else are you involved with at Clemson?
I am a senator in CUSG and a member of the Academic Integrity Board. In Delta Zeta, I am the Assistant Panhellenic Delegate.
Why did you choose to attend Clemson University?
I participated in rodeo all through high school so originally, I really wanted to go to school somewhere out west, like Texas A&M, but I didn’t want to go so far away from my family. Also, my dad was a huge Clemson fan, so it was the obvious choice to stay close to home.
Are you happy with your choice?
I’m so happy! There is no way I would be as happy anywhere else. Looking back, I wouldn’t have liked being in school out west by myself away from my family.
What is your favorite thing about Clemson?
I love the Clemson Experience. On campus there is a constant high and an excitement in all the people and the surroundings.
Going into the pageant, did you think you had a chance to win?
Not really. My mindset was “Whatever happens, happens.” I was shocked when I found out I made it to the top 10 and even more surprised when I made it to the top five. At Tigerama, they announced my major, hometown, and organization, and it still didn’t register that I had won.
How did it feel to be down on the field during the Homecoming football game?
When I was riding on the float during halftime, we started on the North side of the stadium and everyone was cheering for me. But when we circled around to the student section and the South side, I saw all of the students and all of my Delta Zeta sisters standing up and screaming. At that moment, I understood how it feels to be in the same place as 80,000 of your closest friends.
Just for fun…
Where is your favorite place to eat downtown?
356 and Brioso!
What is your favorite quote?
“Life is like a piano. The white keys represent happiness and the black represent sadness, but as you go through life’s journey, you see that the black keys create music too.”
If you could meet one celebrity, who would it be and why?
Trevor Brazile. He is not a celebrity in the Hollywood sense, however he is a celebrity in the rodeo world. He has won 10 national all around titles and over 5 million dollars in his rodeo career. Not only is he successful in the rodeo world, he has a wonderful family and always puts others before himself.
