I am a planner. You know that one person in your life that makes 15 different lists a day and never goes anywhere without their agenda? Yep, that’s me.
Coming into my freshman year at Clemson University you can imagine the amount of lists I made every day to harbor my crippling anxiety and stress regarding this huge life change. There were lists for books I couldn’t live without, must have tank tops, favorite art supplies. You name it and it was on a list.
The one thing I couldn’t figure out the perfect list for?
Shoes.
I spent actual hours searching Pinterest and various other girly websites to find what the best, comfiest shoes for walking college campuses were. You know what I found?
Absolutely nothing.
So for every other list making, slightly neurotic new college girl out there, this one is for you.
Here are my top 5 everyday shoes for college girls.
Â
1. Rainboots
If you are coming to Clemson University, get a pair of rain boots. Just do it. If getting the cutest pair means splurging on them, go for it. Don’t even hesitate. Trust me, you’ll be thanking yourself when you reach November and are wading through a small river on Library Bridge for the 6th day in a row. Also, I highly encourage jumping in the puddles. You are never too old to jump in puddles. It’ll make you smile and everyone else around you smile too.
2. Black Nike Sneakers
These are the college shoe. When I toured Clemson as a Senior in high school, I was shocked at how many girls wore them. Black Nike sneakers are like the XL t-shirt of footwear: comfortable, convenient, and easy (and let’s face the hard truth here these sneaks are way cuter than the XL t-shirt trend).
Â
3. Toms
I got my first pair of Toms last year as a birthday gift (thanks mom!) and I have fallen in love. These shoes are so comfy and look adorable with any outfit you wear. You can pick from any color or pattern you can think of to go with your favorite looks.
4. Chacos
Okay, being completely honest here, when Chacos first came out I was a hater. I thought they were quite possibly the ugliest shoes I have ever seen.
Now? I have two pairs and would die without them. I’ve never worn more comfortable or cute shoes that can take the wear and tear of both running and water. If you like to hike these also make awesome hiking shoes when you don’t want your feet sweating in boots. Also, if you’re like me, you can invest in a pair without a toe strap and rock the Sockos all winter long.
Â
5. Converse/Keds
Yes, I know those target cheetah print flats look SO cute with your new outfit but your feet will hate you in less than 10 minutes. We’ve all done it by sacrificing our blistered heels to look cute for that boy sitting two spots ahead of you in Biology that may or may not know your name. But I promise, in most cases, what you wear on your feet will not determine his attraction for you. So, opt for a super cute pair of polka dot Keds or go for the classic Converse look. Your feet will love you for it and, who knows, maybe Biology boy will too.
