VP of the Student Body Lee Cochrane

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

Major: Bioengineering

Year at Clemson: Junior (Graduating May 2015)

What made you want to come to Clemson University?

My father graduated from Clemson in ’81 (It was a good year for Clemson). He always brought my family to football games, Homecoming, and to just get ice cream from ’55 Exchange. Clemson truly became a home away from home. There was no other option when the time came to choose which college to attend.

What’s your favorite spot on campus and why?

My favorite spot on campus is definitely the Scroll of Honor and Memorial Park. Honoring those who have given the ultimate sacrifice is something that Clemson continues to do well in honoring our military heritage.

What influenced you to run with Maddy for VP of the student body?

There is a rather long back-story to this. But when I was younger, my best friend and I were going to be President and Vice President of the student body here at Clemson. He passed away this past semester in a hiking accident, this was the toughest thing I had ever gone through. When Maddy asked me to run with her, I knew I owed it to Brent to do what I thought was best for Clemson.

Are you involved in anything else on campus?

I am a member of Beta Theta Pi and currently serve as the Vice President of Risk Management for IFC. I’m also the 2014 Chair for Legacy Day, which is an event held every year at Fort Hill as an opportunity for students to learn of the legacy that Thomas Green Clemson established and that we continue today. Another thing I am very passionate about is the Clemson Student Memorial Chapel and Garden, which is a proposed on-campus building where students of all faiths can come to pray, meditate, and remember students who have passed away before their expected graduation date.

Why is being in Greek life so important to you?

Greek life at Clemson is something that truly has merit. It has allowed me to meet so many great people and to develop friendships that will last well past college.

For Fun:

Favorite Movie: The King’s Speech

Favorite Date Spot in Clemson: Definitely Roller Coaster Road (but in all seriousness, probably Blue Heron)

Why are Clemson girls ‘best in the world’?

There’s something about Clemson girls. They’re just prettier than girls at any other school in the nation. Who knows, maybe it’s the orange?Â
