Why Dogs are Better Than People!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CMU chapter.

Dogs…

1) Never disappoint you:  Night or day, rain or shine, your dog will be right there waiting to attack you with love as soon as you walk through the door.

2) Live life to the fullest: In addition to chasing their tails and running after fuzzy yellow balls like their lives depend on it, dogs just happily throw their heads out of car windows and let their tongues hang wild in the wind. They aren’t afraid to have fun, even if it means looking stupid in the process.

3) Don’t worry about body image: If there is food, they will eat it. It’s that simple. They aren’t exactly calorie counters.

4) See joy in the simple: A long walk or a belly run can make your dog so simply and blissfully happy.

5) Think PDA is okay: Doggie kisses are the best and everyone knows it.

6) Let you know what they are feeling immediately: All you need to know is when the tail is wagging, your dog is happy. There are no convoluted signs about feelings, and dogs never want drama. They are straightforward and easy to understand.

7) Are always loyal and always your best friend: No matter what, your dog will be there for you. Like John Grogan says in his novel Marley and Me: Life and Love With the World’s Worst Dog, “A dog doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his.”

I am currently senior majoring in Business Administration and Statistics with a track in Finance at Carnegie Mellon University. Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Enid Blyton and J.K Rowling are a few of my favorite authors. I also love watching British TV shows (Sherlock is my favorite!). On campus, I am involved in several activities, including Carnegie Mellon Business Association and Smart Woman Securities.
