Understanding an INTJ

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CNU chapter.

What is an INTJ (Introvert, INtuitive, Thinker, Judgement)?

They’re called “The Architects” due to their strategic capabilities and thirst for knowledge. Here’s a nice little breakdown of the intelligent, and sometimes a bit pretentious, INTJs.

INTJs are quite rare, making up only .8% of the population. They tend to feel lonely due to their inability to find people who think like them and process information in the same manner. They’re very intelligent, reliable, and capable by themselves. However, some can perceive their intelligence as cunning, and a more negative aspect of their personalities than a positive one. They also have a confidence about them that makes them leaders in some cases, or reconstructors for projects and ideas they find to be incomplete. If you cant keep up with an INTJ or their way of thinking, they tend to lose respect for you.

Oftentimes they are called the bookworms, and they don’t mind. INTJs enjoy learning in both a practical and non-practical sense. They can be seen as both cynics and idealists, which can weigh on their intellectual pursuits and interactions with others. They believe people can achieve anything with enough work, but they also believe people can be too lazy or incapable of reaching their potential.

INTJ Compatibility:

  • ENTPs (Extravert, INtuitive, Thinker, Prp) “The Debater”
  • ENFPs (Extravert, INtuitive, Feeler, Perceiving) “The Campaigner”
