As millions of fans watched the drama unfold with Olivia Wilde’s new debut film, “Don’t Worry Darling”, it seems only fitting to discuss the shining star of it all, Miss Flo herself. She literally light up the red carpet in her dazzling Tiffany&Co gown after meticulously avoiding the press conference before the event. It’s giving major queen energy, and I am more than happy to crown her for my Woman Crush Wednesday.
Avoiding the recent drama all together, Academy Award nominee Florence Pugh is one of the most influential actresses of our era, starring in multiple top films such as: “Little Women”, Marvel’s “Black Widow”, and of course “Dune” staring Timothée Chalamet. With a whopping 8.1 million followers alone on her Instagram account, fans cannot get enough of this rising celebrity. However, Pugh keeps the content relatable as ever with multiple pictures of her dogs along with the one and only, “Granzo Pat” (whom I am equally obsessed with). Her account is a refreshing change from the filtered and highly edited culture many influencers strive for.
Along with her confidence to be herself, Pugh also displays a courage to stand up to internet trolls that just can’t seem to get on board with women embracing their sexuality. With a wave of negative comments on her nipple-revealing Valentino dress back in July, Pugh took to the internet to stand up for herself, expressing that by now we as a society should be less afraid of women taking control of their bodies and displaying them the way they want to, and instead be more afraid how some people cannot seem to cope with this. A woman’s body is her own, and she should be comfortable in her own skin and embrace it however she may choose without anyone else’s opinion. At the end of the day, breasts are breasts and sometimes we just need to “#freethef******nipple”, as Pugh so sophistically stated.
We have seen many relatable actresses in our time, but Pugh continues to resonate with me the most. Maybe it was her time with survival expert Bear Grylls, where she not only brought her own seasonings with her, but also snuck chocolate bars into the wild to snack on when eating beetles wasn’t filling enough. Or perhaps it was the time where she took her fans on an emotional rollercoaster as she cared for her cactus, Barry. Or it’s the fact that she is a loveable human being that bring smiles to everybody’s faces.
You can’t help but grow to love her as you watch her videos, as she brings a comfort through all her quirky and charming content. At the end of the day, I will protect her at all costs from internet trolls and lowkey jealous directors whose name may or may not be Olivia Wilde. Either way, haters will hate, and I will continue to watch another episode of , “Cooking with Flo b*****s.”
