Meet Brian Levinson. He’s everyone’s favorite smiley Sophomore. With such a great sense of humor and fun personality, who wouldn’t wanna read this interview?

Hey Brian! Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with Her Campus. Everyone knows you around campus, but we figured we’d give them a little bit more. Alright, let’s start. What do you do when you aren’t in class on the hill?

Hmm…I play football, I read to kids at a local school, and I hang out with my friends

Okay, can you tell me about football. What position do you play? How long have you been playing?

I play offensive tackle. Last year I had two bulging disks in my back, so I wasn’t allowed to play at all last season.  Hopefully next year I’ll start again. When I was injured last year I helped out a lot with recruiting. My coach and I became boys. I’ve been playing since 7th grade.

Did you know that you were going to play football at Colby?

Yeah, I was recruited to come here out of high school. I was pumped. I hadn’t even been up to Colby before I arrived at school here. I actually met the coaches at a football game at Wesleyan.

What do you like most about the football team?

All the kids on the team are great kids. Once you join the team everyone becomes good friends. They’re really some of my best friends at school now. I’m always looking forward to the fall.

Do you find it hard to balance academics with football?

Yes, but after my freshman year I learned how to do it well. All of the coaches help you organize your time pretty well.

What’s your major? What are your favorite classes you’ve taken here so far?

I’m an Econ major. I took a class with Professor Finley. I had heard he was very tough, but I thought he was an awesome teacher. I really enjoyed it. I also really like Professor Gilkes. Who doesn’t? I’m taking her class this year and again next semester…

We heard you went to Costa Rica for a while. Can you tell us all a little bit about that?

So my step-sister lives down there. She has two kids. She owns a hotel in Costa Rica so I went down in June and lived with her for about a month. I went white water rafting, zip-lining, bungee jumping… hmm.. I learned how to drive stick shift. That was pretty cool. Her hotel is in a sort-of low income area, so it was definitely an interesting experience. I ate a lot of rice and beans…

Have you thought about going abroad next year?

Yes. Prague and Australia sound really interesting, but I haven’t really made my mind up yet.

We know it’s far in advance, but any plans for after Colby?

Hopefully get involved in a marketing or advertising job. I’m pretty interested in that. My dad did that… I have mad respect for my dad.

Alright, Brian. Thank you so much. Good luck with finals and we can’t wait to see you around campus!
