As many of us already know, Hailey Bieber’s skincare and beauty line rhode is taking the world by storm. With many similar products out there from Summer Fridays, Saltair, and the like, it can be hard to narrow down which products best suit your preferences. While I have not yet tried some of the competitors’ products, I have tried a mix of rhode’s peptide lip tints (lightweight, sheer colored glosses) and their peptide lip treatments (colorless balms). Here is my honest review and ranking of the rhode lip products that I have tried.
- Peptide lip treatment in unscented: I surprised myself with how much I loved the unscented version of this lip treatment — usually, I enjoy a fun fragrance, but something about this neutral balm is perfect for everyday use, particularly if implemented as part of your skincare routine before bed or in the morning. Because it is unscented, it pairs seamlessly over any lip products for added hydration and shine. This product is included in the rhode kit as well, if you’re looking to try out more of their skincare products.
- Peptide lip tint in raspberry jelly: I love this shade. It’s a beautiful berry color (perfect for fall and winter) and reminds me of the goes-with-everything ease of Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, but in gloss form.
- Peptide lip tint in ribbon: This shade is darling. As a ballerina myself, the dainty color is reminiscent of tights and pointe shoes, thus playing into the balletcore trend that has been super popular this year. It has a nice, cool-toned pinky shade that I think would complement a soft blush.
- Peptide lip treatment in watermelon slice: Achieves the same goal as the unscented version, but with a summery, fruity feel to it. Although I already use it regularly, I have a feeling it will become a daily staple for me during the warmer months.
- Peptide lip treatment in salted caramel: If we’re talking seasons, this scent reminds me of cozying up with a warm blanket, so it definitely has a wintery feel in my opinion. Overall a nice product with a yummy scent.
- Peptide lip tint in jelly bean: Although this product is sold out, I thought I would still include it in the ranking for fun. Jelly bean is a flirty, shimmering pink that is eye-catching, but not too bold for a simple makeup look. Like the other peptide lip tints, it feels just as moisturizing as the peptide lip treatments; however, I will note that the sparkles create a texture that you can feel when you rub your lips together. This does not particularly bother me, but may become irritating for those sensitive to textures. The pink shade is sheer enough that you have to really build it to work up some color, which increases how much you can feel the sparkles.
- Peptide lip treatment in rhode vanilla: I was most excited for this product, but also most disappointed by it. The scent is very similar to salted caramel in my opinion; I couldn’t find much of a distinction between the two. However, the rhode vanilla lip treatment was gritty upon my first use, leaving behind an odd residue more akin to a lip scrub than a balm. I have seen reviews that some rhode products unfortunately end up with this texture. So far, I have only experienced this with the rhode vanilla version of the peptide lip treatment.
My overall thoughts: I like the rhode products that I have and I will continue to use them regularly, particularly the unscented lip balm and the peptide lip tints in raspberry jelly and ribbon. While I don’t think they are revolutionary, I think they are solid products and fun to try out. I am interested to try some of rhode’s other products in the future and see how they line up!
