Waterville Restaurant Review: Selah Tea Cafe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colby chapter.

Looking for something different? Do you crave wonderful aromas and an inviting atmosphere? Perhaps Selah Tea Cafe is for you. Sometimes we all just need a place off-campus where we can go to unwind and relax with friends, or sometimes we desire a place away from our dorm rooms, where we can study or curl up with a favorite book, while at the same time drinking wonderful tea and coffee. Selah Tea Cafe has all this and more. On this fall Sunday afternoon, I ventured to 177 Main Street in Waterville with my mother who was in town for just a few hours.  Upon entering, we were immediately met by wonderful smells, and I was instantly drawn to the comfortable seating near the large windows overlooking Main Street. As we stood looking at the menu of teas, we were amazed at the wonderful selection of soups and sandwiches available, as well.  Though we were only stopping in for tea, seeing these specials certainly made our mouths water.

SPECIAL: Grilled cheese made fresh on your choice of bread. Prepared with swiss, provolone, and a choice of ham or bacon.

SOUPS: Cream of broccoli, tomato or pumpkin bisque, cheesy Cajun, and corn chowder.

The customer service at Selah was fabulous. Our server was careful to give us plenty of time to browse the menu, but ever so cheerfully gave us suggestions when we asked for her opinion. In the end, we both opted for hot beverages and each of us loved what we chose. I highly recommend both Orange Pineapple Tea and Long Island Strawberry Tea. When checking out, I could not help but notice their unique GOOD VIBE BOARD of colorful sticky notes with messages of positivity (see picture below). I am can most definitely say that Selah Tea Cafe will be a regular place for me to visit, especially when the cold winter winds start to blow. Next time, I will be sure to go to Selah when I have time for tea and one of their special homemade soup and sandwich specials.
