It’s almost that time of year… you know, the home stretch. The time of year where we’re burnt out but holding on. The time of year that brings us back down to earth, allowing us to take moments to reflect on what we’re grateful for. In the midst of grinding for class, knee deep in papers and club meetings, it can be hard to allow ourselves to have a break. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to relax and surround yourself with family and friends. It’s also the time where you finally can eat homemade food and reunite with your high school friends. So… what’s better than a combination of the two? If you’re not familiar with friendsgiving, it’s “a blend of friend and Thanksgiving, referring to a large meal eaten with friends either on or near Thanksgiving”. My favorite part of friendsgiving (aside from the company, of course) is the food. At my friendsgiving, each friend brings a dish to share with the table which makes it all the more special.  Here are some of the dishes on my list that I’ve seen on Tiktok that will hopefully give you some recipe ideas or inspiration to have your own friendsgiving.

Restaurant-style BRUSSELS SPROUTS in 6 easy steps. You’ll have the star side dish at any gathering, any thanksgiving or holiday dinner as of today! Not everyone can execute restaurant style Brussels Sprouts from home but you will be that star. A key element is using a preheated baking pan and using the right bake temperature inside your oven. Step 1. Place a large baking tray into the oven & preheat the oven to 425F Step 2. Rinse your sprouts, remove the brown ends & cut them horizontally into two. Step 3. Place them in a large bowl and season them generously with good quality extra-virgin olive oil, salt & black pepper Step 4. Remove the baking tray from the oven, grease it with extra-virgin olive oil then place the sprouts face down onto the pan Step 5. Bake for 15 minutes or until the surface of the sprouts that are face down have the desired restaurant looking charr then flip then and cook until the other side is charred as well. Step 6. Remove then from the oven, place them back into the large bowl and mix in your desired about of balsamic glaze, cayenne pepper and salt. Move quickly as you want to serve them while they are hot! If they have cooled down while dressing them, place them back in the oven for a few minutes before serving. There you have it! Restaurant-Style Brussels Sprouts! #foodporn #foodie #healthyrecipes #foryou

  1. Baked Mac n Cheese

Whether you feel comfortable making the turkey, a simple side, or a drink, there’s something that you’ll be able to contribute! Take this time to bond with the people you haven’t seen in awhile over a great plate of food. This is one of the most special times of the year, and it can be hard to practice gratitude when stressed with the pile up of classes, internship anxiety, and extracurriculars. Having a night to decompress, eat homemade food, and spend time with the people you love is something that is so important during the weeks before finals. I hope you find some meal inspo from these videos and wish you a happy Friendsgiving!
