I’m the type of person who starts celebrating Christmas the day after Halloween. In my personal belief, the Christmas season is never long enough… especially when you’re in college. Before I came to Colgate, I was listening to Christmas music, performing in 14 shows of the Nutcracker, drinking peppermint mochas, and participating in multiple groups of Secret Santa all throughout the months of November and December. I always mourned the beginning of January and constantly felt empty after the holidays.
When I came to Colgate my freshman year, I felt like something was off during the time of year when I was usually the happiest. No more driving around looking at Christmas lights or baking cookies with my cousins every weekend. No more Nutcracker shows with the girls I had been performing with for 15 years. The three weeks in between Thanksgiving and Christmas should be the most festive, meanwhile at Colgate, everyone is nose to the grindstone preparing for finals. When finals are completed, there’s only a few days to get settled in at home before the holiday hits… and then just like that, it’s over.
I’ve had to get creative when bringing the holiday cheer to my apartment here at Colgate to at least feel a portion of what I used to feel during the holiday season. But man, when I saw the new holiday collection from Anthropology, my eyes lit up. When you see these holiday items, your mouth will drop. I recently just bought some items for myself and my apartment and they’re an instant dopamine booster.
I’m going to give you some of my favorite picks from the new collection that will hopefully inspire you to treat yourself!

It’s hard to celebrate the holiday at school when all you’re doing is complaining about the gloomy skies, trudging through the muddy snow to class, and bundled up in the library all day. I’ve learned that it’s all about the little things. Whether you want to put up Christmas lights in your dorm room, host a friendsgiving in your apartment, have a gingerbread house making competition, or buy a cute snowman mug for your morning coffee… treat yourself to something that will bring some holiday happiness to counter the stress of the end of the semester.
