There was no stopping the big-time red-carpet style at last week’s Grammy Awards, and not even the pandemic. Celebrities and musicians pulled out all the stops with their fashion with a delightful array of matching masks and dresses, over-the-top stunning couture, and even one certain pop star looking particularly dapper in a leather Gucci suit and a boa (yes, a boa). While the popular awards show proved far from conventional, the fashion made the night. Below are the best show-stopping styles from the red carpet and performances of last week’s Grammy’s.
Taylor Swift
The singer wore a multi-colored floral appliqué Oscar de la Renta dress with a matching mask, creating the mask/dress combo of our dreams. Excuse the cliché, but Swift’s dress practically defines Spring. Oscar de la Renta featured the bright and whimsical dress in their FW 2021 lookbook, and us mere-mortals can shell out a casual $8,990 for the dress at Moda Operandi.com.
Dua Lipa
Donatella herself approves of Dua Lipa as a Versace girl, so, granted, The “Levitating” singer wore not one, but four Versace styles during the night. For the red carpet, she adorned a blinged-out pink butterfly bodice dress that shimmered head to toe. During her captivating performance Dua Lipa wore a pink organza gown over a pink rhinestone bikini and a metallic magenta blazer.
Megan Thee Stallion
The rapper’s red carpet look did not just include a stunning orange gown by Dolce & Gabbana, but also statement jewels courtesy of Chopard. The vibrant orange popped on the carpet, making the “Savage” rapper’s Grammy debut memorable. Megan wanted the custom dress to look like a Grammy, complete with an old-time Hollywood glam hairstyle. As for the bling, she wore over 220 carats of Chopard diamonds—which is, yeah, a lot.
Billie Eilish
Never one to dress conventionally on the red carpet, Billie Eilish wore a gleaming Gucci pantsuit with an even more incredible matching mask. She also matched her signature bucket hat and gloves with the ensemble. The pink and grey jacquard print featured tigers and florals, making for a unique look that shined on the carpet.
Harry Styles
Please forgive my fangirling here…It has been one week, and I have not stopped thinking about THAT boa. And also THAT suit. Yes, the leather one without a shirt underneath. For the Grammy performance of his hit song Watermelon Sugar, Styles wore a Gucci black leather suit designed by close friend Alessandro Michele. His red carpet look just about broke the Internet. Styles wore a Cher Horowitz-esque yellow plaid blazer also by Gucci. My personal opinion here, but lets normalize men wearing leather suits and bring back boas; thank you very much.
